What I Read for Fun

I am not a big reader. I cannot remember the last novel that I actually read for fun. I think that the biggest thing that I read for fun would have to be magazines. I have a subscription to ESPN the magazine and Sports Illustrated. I think reading things about sports is fun. I would even read a novel if it was about the right topic. I pretty much will read anything about sports. I think that they are very interesting. I like all sports and I enjoy reading about what is going on throughout the leagues. I think that all sports are very intriguing. I will read about baseball, basketball, football, or pretty much any other sport that I find worth while. I do not really read novels for fun, especially serious ones about anything that’s not related to sports in any way. I had to read novels in the summer for homework and I did not really enjoy them. I especially did not like The Grapes of Wrath. This was possibly the worst book I have ever read, and is one of the reasons that I do not like reading novels anymore. The book was so bad; I don’t even read books anymore. I will only read them now if they are assigned for a project of some kind or if they are about sports. I will read magazines all the time now though. They are by far my favorite thing to read. I also will read something if I think it is funny. The last actual book I read was titled, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. This book was very funny. It was absolutely hilarious in some parts and I highly recommend it. Basically, if something is about sports or is funny then I will enjoy reading it. If it is about these things then I will not read it for fun. Magazines are my favorite things to read now days.

  1. I understand that you don't like The Grapes of Wrath, but I hope you don't really avoid all books because of one book. There are so many books out there in your interest area (i.e. sports books) that you would be passing up. One of my favorite summer reads was Golf Monster by Alice Cooper - about how he loves golf and used his love for golf to manage his troubles with alcohol abuse. We had a reason for reading The Grapes of Wrath - we will discuss it when we reach the Modernism Period, but I wouldn't give up on reading because of it.
